Une équipe sur place qui travaille, rencontre, assemble, construit, enregistre et diffuse des contenus inouïs : concerts, interviews, discussions, reportages, playlists et autres surprises. Le projet est mené par trois passionné·es du son et de la radio : Clara Alloing, Jonathan Frigeri, Rudy Decelière accompagné·es par Perrine Cado, Simon Bordier et Doris.

AchiRadio est une expérience réinventée de l’écoute, offerte aux artistes et au public. Sous forme de matinale dédiée aux musiques et aux artistes d’Archipel, elle est accessible en direct chaque jour de 10h à 13h. Des playlists suivent en journée. Le projet permet également de constituer une archive du festival, disponible sur le site internet sous la forme de podcast audio.

It was and remains necessary to see the radio not only as a medium but also as art.
Radio art is discordant with radio and music in their traditional perceptions. Music in particular, in its classical diffusion, does not adapt efficiently to the radio medium, because it is not designed for this medium and does not take consideration of its specificity and its paradigms.

Radio should avoid dealing with finite temporal objects with a beginning, a middle and an end, as to avoid to have comprehensible form and avoid the way of predictable appearance. That means having an open acoustic final result and welcoming the idea of losing the control. Considering that we never know how the music is heard, every radio listeners’ ear perceives a different piece and creates its final version from a framework of possibilities.

This restriction has always shaped this kind of art more than could the restriction of the five staves from the musical notation storage medium ever define composition. And we believe that all this paradigms have to be considered while creating music for radio. From the side of the broadcaster and the side of the listeners.

The residents guests have access 24h a day to a recording/music studio, a library, an accommodation and food
In case needed technical help is provided

The guests are free to choose and work with whatever form they think most appropriate.

At the end of the residence the project is broadcast live on laptopradio, every last Tuesday of the month from midnight to 1am broadcasting in Berlin (88.4 fm) and postdam (90.7 fm), the first Tuesday of the month from midnight to 1am broadcasting in Brussels (92.1fm). Some projects are also scheduled on radio arte mobile in Rome.

Radio bazaar is an open studio where people are free to pop in and participate to the show
The radio was located on the first floor with a view directly on the main street of the festival
The interactive project proposed an exchange of whisky for poems
The people was able to order a whisky at the whisky bar located inside the radio studio, and if they were feeling inspired, they could write a poem and read it live on the radio, in which case the whisky was for free

Etheral Culture is an itinerant sound project born from the encounter of a musician and a sculptor
This work is an attempt to analyse and remodel the sound landscape
Concerned about global disinterest in the world of sound, they decided to re-appropriate this audible matter through empathetic interaction with everyday life, with the intention to draw the attention back to collective and individual sound atmospheres
The goal is to raise awareness of the sounds that surround us and yet which we no longer pay attention to, acting as if they were dimmed
The idea of an open project is fundamental here, in order to allow a constant evolution of its content

The conference of the Birds was a live radio show during the 48 hours Neukölln Festival in Berlin

More than fifty artists were gathered in order to conceive a radio work based on the poem The conference of the Birds by Attar of Nishapur
The poem is about a group of birds that desire to meet their God, the great Simorgh, and then, under the guidance of a leader bird, they start their journey towards the land of Simorgh. When they finally reach the dwelling place of Simorgh, all they find is a lake in which they see their own reflection

A music box in human scale was built in Berlin to host musicians and performers, which became in a symbolic way, the gears of the music box. One thousand kilometres away, in Bologna, another music box (this one in normal size), was situated in an apartment from where people could listen the radio show created by the miniaturized artists

Für “Eclipsing Binaries” haben ZOUAVY einen Soundturm mit dem mehrdeutigen Titel “AZ” geschaffen. Ist es ein Kürzel für “alle zusammen”, “Autonomes Zentrum” – oder eine Anspielung an den Turm zu Babel mit seinem Sprachwirrwarr? ZOUAVY lässt die Antwort offen. Zu sehen ist eine aus Lautsprechern gebaute Struktur, die an einen Turm oder besser an eine Turmruine erinnert. Über die zahlreichen Lautsprecher wird der eigens produzierte Sound auch physisch erlebbar gemacht. Im Innern des festungsartigen Objektes laufen die Kabel zusammen zu verschiedenen Verstärkersystemen; es sieht beinahe aus wie in einem Bunker, wie in einer militärischen Schaltzentrale. Die Musik wird zur Skulptur und “AZ” so zum Monument für zeitgenössische Klangexperimente.
